Fishing Day – Fishing and Fly Fishing Merit Badges

April 14 @ 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Free

This is a great Family Day! Parents and siblings welcome. Fishing licenses are required for those 17 and over.

Bring $7.50 cash for the entry fee. Bring quarters if you want to feed the fish. Bring spending money for the trading post.

The scouts have been invited to work on their Fishing and Fly Fishing MBs at the Capital Rod and Gun Club. (20325 Rod and Gun Club Road, Spicewood, Texas) All Scouts 16 years and younger do not need a fishing license. Everyone 17 years old or older will need a valid fishing license even if you are only there to help. Texas Game Wardens and the Sheriff’s office do patrol the lake and this area. We must have at least “two deep” leadership and at least one of them a registered and qualified female leader (21 yrs or older). Since we are guests and other members of this club may be present, I ask that only one parent join us at this time.

Date: April 14th

Time: 1pm-6pm (The gate will be opened once at 1pm, please do not be late.)

Goal: Every scout catches at least one fish while fishing and another fly fishing and clean them. All Scouts will rotate through the fly fishing station throughout the day.

Gear and supplies: I will be providing the fishing gear and bait.

Restrooms: There are two plumbed restrooms on site at the main building at are open. It’s about a 300-400 yard walk, uphill. I suggest using it once before going down to the marina.

Personal gear: small day pack or cooler for personal refreshments. Sitting is limited so bring a folding chair.
